Zynga is going to offer Internet gambling with their UK introduction of ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino. These are downloadable and web-based versions of Zynga’s first real money games. Players ages 18 and over in the UK will be able to play. However, in many ways, this is just the beginning. These versions of the games are considered to be just the prelude for an expected launch of the mobile versions of the games. The company announced in its blog that the Facebook and mobile based versions of the games will be coming soon.
ZyngaPlusPoker is an online poker room. It offers UK players a variety of games and tournaments. There are buy-ins at every level. ZyngaPlusCasino offers over 160 slots games as well as a variety of table games. Table games include Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and VideoPoker. Both of the games will offer welcome packages that include real money bonuses. Also for convenience, there will be a sharable wallet that works across both versions of the game.
The company’s stock rose after the announcement regarding the games was made. Even though the news had previously been announced during Zynga’s Q4 2012 earnings call back in February, the announcement still caused the company’s stock to rise 5.5% in after-hours trading. While the games are currently only being launched in the UK, other real-money games will soon be launched as well. Games are expected to be launched in other European countries this year. Real-money games will be coming to the United States as well. While online gambling is illegal in most states, it was recently legalized in Nevada. While real-money online gambling is not expected to be offered in Nevada this year, it could be offered in 2014. Zynga has already filed for a preliminary finding of suitability for gaming in Nevada.
