We are always waiting for the next innovative and must-have gadget! By now, most of us who have experienced the latest technology, are used to upgrading to the latest phone or tablet and are capable of comparing them with other similar products in the market.  Look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Apple iPhone 5s or Samsung’s Galaxy S4: we examine and compare them to the last model; sometimes they are better, sometime they are not!

HTC One

But what happens when a manufacturer makes a product that is so good, it’s hard to imagine them creating something better one year later?  Finding that feature that makes us green with envy is seemingly impossible if the previous year’s device is amazing and companies are finding it increasingly tricky to satisfy our insatiable appetite for new and impressive technology!

However, that being said, there are rumours that early next year HTC will release a successor to the One, reportedly called the M8, but nothing’s been confirmed as yet. There is already hearsay as to what this new device’s capabilities will be.  The general understanding is that it will feature a 5-inch display (0.3 inches bigger than its predecessor) with a 1080p HD panel, host a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor which should help with the overall speed and performance.

The M8 is apparently going to be running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which may excite some.  As well, HTC is already working on Sense 6, which may be released at the same time as the M8.

However, HTC really went above and beyond with their device for 2013.  It’s hard to imagine them creating something better in just one year!  The one area HTC should improve upon is the camera, especially if it expects to compete with the market.  While the 4 UltraPixel camera in the One is completely competent at taking photos and the low-light images tend to be good, there is always room for improvement! Especially when compared to competition like the Lumia lineup from Nokia.

If they add more RAM, make the camera really stand out, then they could be on the right path to creating a superior handset. A new design may also be a positive change to avoid the “That looks like the One!” that will inevitably filter through the internet during its announcement and launch.

How can they outdo themselves? How can they get people to upgrade? Will a lot of it be up to the software and Sense 6? Or can HTC sell the masses by the hardware alone, or even just the new camera? Who knows, I guess we will just have to be patient and wait and see.
